AQUA4D has proudly completed a landmark installation at a public building in the Canton of Valais, the 50th such installation in the region. Encompassing locations in various cities, these municipal buildings include fire stations, police stations, schools, and sports facilities, all of which continue to benefit from the sustainable treatment of their water systems.

It’s often the case that companies find success abroad before finding recognition in their backyard. To an extent, that’s the case with Sierre-based AQUA4D, whose 5000+ installations can be found in 45 countries. With ever more attention being paid to sustainable solutions in Switzerland, an increasing number of the company’s systems can now be found in its home region of Valais.

Back in 2009, the first school was equipped in the city of Visp. They faced serious corrosion issues, and not wanting to close the buildings to fit new piping, they turned to nearby AQUA4D as a more cost-effective and hassle-free solution. At first there was skepticism at how this technology could be effective and economical and ecological at the same time. But the results spoke for themselves – since then, the school’s systems have been corrosion-free and no longer require regular cleaning and maintenance.

“Since the installation of AQUA4D® I have observed a steady decrease in the rust water,” said school caretaker Christian Gantenbein at the time. “This process already started after a few days. After two months, no more rust water was observed.”

This was to be the start of a new move towards environmental and ecological solutions for the region’s public buildings. Since then, schools in Sierre, Sion, Brig, Grône, Monthey and more have been equipped with AQUA4D. This water treatment means systems are kept clean long-term and do not need costly maintenance. Crucially, this means essential sites can stay open and in use, saving public money and time.

This factor is equally important for other public buildings which are now equipped with AQUA4D, such as police stations (Monthey), fire stations (Martigny), sports halls (Baltschieder), clinics (Sierre), and villas (Crans Montana).

“Just a few weeks after the installation of the AQUA4D® system, almost no more rust water comes out of the pipes. Likewise, limescale no longer sticks to the shower heads and other objects,” reports Markus Ackermann, Technical Leader of the Kollegium Spiritus Sanctus in Brig.

Uniquely, AQUA4D bridges the gap between public authorities and private enterprise: the technology has been specifically named as a recommended water treatment system in the “Directions Energetiques du Canton du Valais”, a public document which specifies sustainable solutions for buildings.

The company now counts on support from Ville Sierre (municipal level), the Canton of Valais (regional level), as well as the Federal Office for the Environment (national level). This support, coupled with ongoing private interest and prize-winning recognition on a national level, means AQUA4D technology is recognized as a leading sustainable water treatment solution for buildings in Switzerland and beyond.
